I really hope I didn't break it...

The night of the crash, I was racing on my production sample of our new Speciale Sprint steel track racing frameset (due to come out in Fall). It's the all-steel version of the Coltello, for all of us who still like the feel of steel and want a truly race-oriented frameset.

Up until the crash, it rode like a dream and I am confident it will be a big hit with everybody. From what I am told, it is still in great shape- though I have not yet seen it myself. The folks at the track have been holding it for me and I am very anxious to get it back in my hands.

I was going to post these pictures anyway, but they are a little later than I planned. Consider it Mother's Day Bike Porn!

Hey Tim -

I'm pretty sure your bike's okay. There may be a dent in the top tube, but nothing that doesn't scream, "This bike is still completely safe to race on." Don't quote me on it as no one was tooling around on it post-crash.

So glad to hear that you're on the mends and that you're spirits are up! You'll be back racing in no time!

Hey Tim,

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery. Bikes -- even limited edition, pre-production or one-of-a-kind bikes -- can be fixed much faster than it takes the human body to heal.

Best wishes.

That sure is a pretty bike... I'm going to need one of those. Now if I can just get somebody in Fort Worth to build a velodrome...

Gorgeous! I need someone to build a velodrome in Burlington VT and then that thing is mione. I recently saw an orange Speciale Fixed at a shop in Seattle and it was my first Masi-in-pewrson experience. the fit and finish on those is excellent, better than the pictures would ever let you know. The Wife has dibs on the "next bike" in the house (that's how we do it, we alternate our purchases, putting us up to six bikes and two unicycles right now with no sign of stopping...), but after that I'll be adding a Masi to the fleet for sure. Get well soon.

Masi bikes interleaved with Swobos -- nice! And that Speciale Sprint looks mighty pretty.

Glad you're recovering, Tim. Get well!

...wow, masiguy...glad you're happening again...you're an articulate contributor to the bicycle industry...

...here's a thought for you, knowing your concern about your track bike...if alison's assessment is correct & there is a dent in the top tube, then i wanted to share something to pacify your thoughts...

...many years ago, joe breeze took a friends old 'eddy soens' chromed track frame w/ a nasty dent in the top tube & created a miracle fix...
...the erudite mr breeze torch sealed the breather holes at both ends of the top tube, tapped a new hole for a high pressure fitting & used oil under pressure to pop the dent out...voila'...
...so like you, your bike can be healed...w/ out replacing tubes...

...anyway, thought you should know...

Hi Tim,

Sorry to hear about your new frame! Damien in Green Valley, AZ told me to hit you up with a question I posed to him...

Does the Speciale Fixed have a 1" or 1 1/8" head tube? I'm 6'1", 255lbs and enjoy long distance fixie riding so I prefer carbon forks to steel and need to know what to order for my new frame (when I get it!).

Thanks!

Alex- Thanks brother.

1 1/8" is what you need... and you'll love the ride of the frame. However... you might give that steel fork a try before replacing it. The carbon will be much lighter... but the steel fork rides really great... I promise.
